Rocket Car - animated design
for a Christmas parade
A very challenging and exciting project, the client wanted to be noticed, and to be in keeping with the seasonal spirit.
The rocket carried only two people (surely a petrol-head's dream) and went up and down while belching smoke from its various jet exhausts.
The rocket was basically a lightweight ply and pine shell which overhung to cover an small electric scissor lift which was chained to a tandem car-trailer.
The lift's safety rails were removed and the mechanism restrained to allow only about two metres of lift.
A separate vehicle towed the trailer and housed an AC generator which powered the smoke machine (located on the rocket, just behind the driver).
