Hi Bob! the school is Pilgrim Park Middle School in WI. I dont have any pix of the making of the guns. they cut the handels out of wood, then cut the pvc pipes and put it together with the can guns.

The trigger is a "Can Gun" it is a device you get at a hardware store by the spray paint, it clips on to spray paint cans to make spraying easier, well it also fits silly string cans!

We put 3 small screws in the top of the pvc into the trigger (can gun) we also used a bit of liquid nails on top of the trigger just before screwing it into place. now the guns were strudy enough to get dropped durring the play- but you have to becareful about loading and unloading the silly string- you need to hold the trigger mechanism and pull the cans off, if you hold the back of the gun, you can accidently pry the trigger out of the pvc pipe- which is why we put in three screws and the glue.

We used small cans of silly string, they lasted through one preformance the first night- the next 2 nights kids got carried away and we went through one and 1/2 cans per show.

I recomend to have on hand, 2 cans per gun per performance unless you buy the larger size cans (ebay has them at a great price).

The silly string is easy to clean off as the kids come back stage, and sweeps off the stage nicely. not like the shaving cream and cool-whip we tried. : )

You can add a link to my email if you want, I will gladly help out others with thier quest to make a splurge gun! : ) Email Sandy

If you have any other questions, just email me back. I will see if I can get jim to dissassemble a gun for better pix, I also have a double barrel that was our "super splurge" for the end of the play. that was more tricky to build. : )

Sandy

(I don't think silly string was available back in the '80s when I made the guns - just what is needed for such a messy show - Bob)
